I was pleased with the exchange of comments I had with Jeffrey Cohen on In the Middle this weekend, in which we briefly marinated in nostalgia about the defection of Brigham's ice cream from Harvard Square. I don't know why I wax Proustian about Boston at this time of year, but after all April is the cruelest month, comme on dit, I suppose because of the start of a new Red Sox season.
Prof Cohen (George Washington University) is in my view the most innovative medievalist of the past decade.
